Lo-Fi Cowl

by TL Yarn Crafts at WEBS

Here’s yet another on-line company that offers beautiful yarn. WEBS American Yarn Store has a lovely scarf that is beginner friendly. This pattern is by the very well known talent in the modern crochet world here in the U.S., Toni Lipsey of TL Yarn Crafts. This pattern, the Lo-Fi Cowl (11″ x 52″) is a simple, repeat stitched, long cowl that can be worn long or folded double to become a nice and warm snuggler around the neck. This crochet kit comes with written instructions and 6 hanks of super-wash merino wool yarn. Even though this yarn is thin (fingering weight) it does require a larger hook (size J/10-6mm) which helps make it easier to handle for a beginner.

Independent (Indie) Dyers

There are also thousands of independent dyers who dye their own yarn, usually of natural fibers such as wool, cotton, silk and others. They will sometimes collaborate with crochet designers and offer kits, often with a particular theme and for a limited time. You can often find different Indie dyers on the web. If you like the idea of creating something with custom dyed yarn that probably won’t be found anywhere else, then an Indie Dyer would be a great choice. Just google yarn dyers and you are bound to find a plethora of independent dyers available on-line.

I hope these suggestions broaden your ideas on choices you have when it comes to finding Crochet patterns as a crochet newbie. If you are an experienced Crocheter, the Crochet Kit is a way of having something beautiful to make without a whole lot of forethought and with everything you need right there for you!

Have fun making!
